      1. Good jacket with room for improvement
        Product rating
I'll start by saying that I am a huge fan of Fjallraven, and that I own several of their products ranging from packs to other jackets. Their products are all extremely durable and well-made, and I have to agree that G1000 is possibly the best outdoor fabric there is.

I wanted a jacket that I could take into the bush for hiking, hunting and fishing that offered reasonable water resistance and windproofness, so the Sarek looked like a sure thing. I appreciate the oversized hood, and it has come in handy on several occasions, but with that being said when not in use it turns into sort of funnel and is great for redirecting wind and water down your neck. When zipped up it becomes quite uncomfortable, so I've found that either all the way down or hood up is the way to go.

Secondly, this jacket could use two more sets of pockets. Firstly, I don't understand why they didn't include handwarmer pockets in the front; the front bellows are already there, so why not offer some handwarmers? Also, this jacket would greatly benefit with some butt pockets on the rear. Maybe Fjallraven wants us to spend a couple more hundred dollhairs for those upgrades...

All in all this is a great bush jacket and I am very happy with it. G1000 doesn't singe from sparks, and it won't rip on bramble when bushwacking. It's not completely waterproof, but it's damn near close with a few layers in key areas. The longer cut is great for weather in the Pacific North-West, since it can get pretty crummy here in the winter. The snaps are solid and the leather pulls are attractive. Regarding sizing this one is a bit of an oddball compared to my other jacket(s) - I am 6' 175 lbs and the medium is almost too big. I layer with an Ovik Lite jacket (size Medium) and I would consider the fit to be just shy of snug. For comparisons sake, I had a greenland jacket a while ago (size small) that fit perfectly over my Ovik Lite, so take that how you will.

      2. Good stuff
        Product rating
I purchased this jacket to cover all 4 seasons since other reviews mentioned that there is enough space for layers. Waxed, it is bombproof and the coldest and the harshest of winds will not penetrate. The hood is a true wonder and designed to withstand everything mother nature throws at you be it snow, sleet, wind, etc.

I'm very satisfied since this jacket can hold it's own as a shell AND a standalone jacket for spring, cold summer evenings and autumn.

        Sturdy, functional, stylish and tough.
